FALL 2018 CIHR COMPETITION RESULTS

Investigators at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) will be conducting 23 new projects designed to accelerate discoveries of benefit to human health, thanks to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Fall 2018 Project Grant competition.

“It's very exciting to report this resounding success in the current CIHR competition. Our funded investigators include a great mix of new investigators and senior people,” said Dr. Bruce Mazer, Interim Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer of the RI-MUHC. “The new recruits inspire our teams to pursue new avenues, and this is an ideal recipe for grant success.’’

Across Canada, the competition has approved 371 research grants and 18 bridge grants for a total investment of approximately $275 million. In addition, $1.4 million was awarded for 14 priority announcement bridge grants.

The CIHR Project Grant program is designed to capture ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes.

Congratulations to RI-MUHC grant recipients and their teams!
