Congratulations to each of the following RI-MUHC investigators:

Dr. Sara Ahmed, recipient of the 2016 Rosemary Wedderburn Brown Prize from the Faculty of Medicine, McGill University.

Dr. Steven Backman, honoured by Dean David Eidelman at a reception recognizing his outstanding contributions to the Faculty of Medicine and to McGill University.

Dr. John Bergeron, recipient of the McGill University Medal for Exceptional Academic Achievement. The award recognizes retired academic staff members for exceptional contributions to their discipline, to the university and to society at large.

Dr. Stella Daskalopoulou, for her Early Career Staff Research Award from the Department of Medicine, McGill University, recognizing excellence in research by an academic staff member within 10 years of completion of training.

Dr. Raquel del Carpio-O’Donovan, recipient of a gold medal from the Peruvian Radiology Society and the InterAmerican College of Radiology (CIR) for her contribution to radiology education in Peru and Latin America.

Dr. William Foulkes, for renewal of his James McGill Award from McGill University. This award recognizes a senior scholar who is an outstanding and original researcher of world-class calibre.

Dr. Jim Hanley, recipient of the 2016 Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) Impact Award for outstanding contributions in collaborative research and applied work.

Dr. Marina Klein, for her Staff Research Award from the Department of Medicine McGill University, recognizing consistent and lasting excellence in research.

Dr. Stéphane Laporte, for his collaboration with Dr. Michel Bouvier’s team at the Université de Montréal on a second high-profile licensing and partnership agreement. Learn more (in French)

Dr. Nancy Mayo, for renewal of her James McGill Award from McGill University. This award recognizes a senior scholar who is an outstanding and original researcher of world-class calibre.

Dr. Emil Nashi, recipient of the W.H. Philip Hill Award from the Department of Medicine, McGill University, recognizing exceptional interest and skill in the teaching of clinical medicine.

Dr. Nitika Pant Pai, one of six Canadian researchers to receive “transition-to-scale” support from Grand Challenges Canada for an innovation with early promise for improving global health. Learn more 

Dr. Louise Pilote, recipient of the 2016 Woman of Distinction Award, Health category, from the YWCA.

Dr. Maya Saleh, who received the William Dawson Scholar award from McGill University, recognizing a scholar developing into an outstanding and original researcher of world-class caliber.

Dr. David Stellwagen, who received a Discovery Accelerator Supplement from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), awarded to maximize the potential impact and timeliness of exceptional research projects.

Dr. Mark Ware, appointed vice-chair of a federal task force that will make recommendations with respect to the production, distribution, retail and consumption of marijuana.
