Research Focus

My research focuses on the metabolic response to surgery, in particular glucose and protein metabolism. We are interested in finding strategies to inhibit perioperative hyperglycemia by anesthetic techniques and the administration of insulin. Furthermore, we have been working on perioperative protein catabolism and how it can be modified by nutritional interventions and/or anesthetic techniques. My research also focuses on how to prevent liver dysfunction after surgical liver resection.
