null Research Team Tops Registrants at Walk for Montreal

It was a day to share with family, friends, and all of Montreal. Between 8,000 and 10,000 Montrealers walked from Dawson College to the new MUHC on June 20 to celebrate the inauguration of the Glen site, and our research community came out in force.

As both captain of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) team for the Walk for Montreal and head of Human Resources, Sonia Rea was doubly proud. "We came together to form the largest team for this event. This is not surprising, as the RI-MUHC staff and community are very much engaged, supportive and energetic – a true representation of our broader Montreal community."

It was an event, said Rea, celebrating our diversity as well as our many achievements at the MUHC and RI-MUHC. It also served as a stirring reminder that our dedication to research is for the benefit and betterment of all Montrealers.

Given that the Glen research site inauguration took place on February 2, Dr. Vassilios Papadopoulos, Executive Director of the RI-MUHC, was happy to experience a summertime sequel.  "It's exciting," he said, "to see so many people from our community – the RI-MUHC, McGill, our hospital departments, foundations, the CHUM, and others – marching together for the opening of the MUHC. People coming from all walks of life on a beautiful day to celebrate the realization of the dream we had in common."
