null What’s new at the 2019 Cancer Research Program (CRP) Research Day?

Along with traditional presentations, the first CRP 3-minute thesis competition!

May 6, 2019

Source: RI-MUHC. The Cancer Research Program (CRP) at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) welcomed members and friends to their fourth annual CRP Research Day on May 3. The organizing committee presented a diversified program celebrating the great cancer research discoveries resulting from the hard work of CRP scientists and their teams.

The goal of this event is to encourage scientific discussion, stimulate reflection and give rise to new collaborative teams. While trainees took the floor for most of the day, two CRP researchers also gave talks. Dr. Shirin Abbasi Nejad Enger, a junior scientist at the RI-MUHC and member of the Medical Physics Unit at McGill University, presented her latest research progress on brachytherapy, and Dr. Antonio Vigano, a clinician-scientist and research director of Santé Cannabis, presented the new McGill Cannabis Program in Oncology.

Among the CRP students, postdocs and research staff who submitted scientific abstracts for a poster or oral presentation, nine were selected to give talks. New this year was a 3-minute thesis (3MT) competition that challenged students to present their research project in an engaging, accessible and compelling way – in only 3 minutes, using a single static slide. Six students delivered these challenging talks. Congratulations to all the winners!
