null Dr. Jean-Pierre Routy’s team receives new CIHR funding for innovative HIV/AIDS research

Congratulations to Dr. Jean-Pierre Routy and his team from the Research Institute of the MUHC and McGill University on being awarded a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for his work on HIV/AIDS. Twelve scientists received CIHR grants to undertake innovative biomedical and clinical HIV vaccine research projects across Canada. Dr. Routy’s research focuses on removing “hidden” cells that are still infected by HIV in patients receiving antiretroviral therapy.  

“I am pleased and very thankful to have received the support from the CIHR for my continuous work on HIV/AIDS research,’’ says Dr. Routy. “Even if HIV is no longer a death sentence in some countries, it is crucial to accelerate efforts towards ending this epidemic by 2030.”
