Research Focus

My research focuses on the causes, consequences and outcome of children at risk for, or with, a neurodevelopmental delay, in particular cerebral palsy or global developmental delay/intellectual disability. I focus on research questions that have a pragmatic and almost immediate relevance to clinical practice affecting these populations. I am particularly interested in identifying clinical phenotypes and factors that have the potential for interventions, especially in vulnerable sub-populations of children at risk for adverse outcome, however defined. In doing so, I evaluate the diagnostic effectiveness of novel technologies enabling evidence-based refinement of our evaluation protocols, as well ethical imperatives in assessment, prediction, and intervention.
