Research Focus

My research focuses on developing models (human and animal) aimed at improving our understanding of normal and pathological visual function, from the retina to the visual cortex. My laboratory is also involved in characterizing animal models of human retinal diseases such as retinopathy of prematurity, age-related macular degeneration, and retinitis pigmentosa, for example, with the goal of further elucidating the pathogenesis of these retinopathies and exploring new therapeutic strategies with which to eradicate them.
