Study at the RI-MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and healthcare hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. More than 1200 graduate students, postdoctoral and clinical fellows conduct research at the RI-MUHC. It is recommended that those who are interested in training at the RI-MUHC read about the work of its researchers and identify a researcher with whom they would like to work.
Prospective research trainees should contact professors directly to inquire about pursuing graduate studies in their lab prior to formally applying to McGill University. All RI-MUHC research trainees must apply to McGill to be admitted as a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. Note that each department at McGill has specific requirements. Prospective research trainees should consult with their potential supervisor for guidance when applying to a specific department at McGill. RI-MUHC researchers hold appointments in more than 10 departments at McGill. Below is a partial list of these departments:
Anatomy and Cell Biology
Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health
Integrated Program in Neuroscience
Microbiology and Immunology
Pharmacology and Therapeutics
Graduate students and fellows at the RI-MUHC benefit from the supervision and mentorship of experienced principal investigators to guide them through their training. Additional research training is available to complement and support the training acquired through apprenticeship and research in individual laboratories.
All research trainees at the RI-MUHC also benefit from the Desjardins Centre for Advanced Training, which creates opportunities for the further enrichment of the social, academic and professional lives of trainees.
The RI-MUHC does not directly process applications.
