Research Focus


My research focuses on key pathways of innate immunity and cell death with an aim to uncovering new biologic therapies for inflammatory-mediated immune disorders. My lab explores the molecular mechanisms and roles of cytosolic Pattern Recognition Receptors in host defense, diseases of chronic inflammation, and cancer. My group has undertaken systems biology approaches including proteomics and large-scale genome-wide RNA interference screens to identify molecular networks that regulate innate immunity. With unique genetic tools and experimental models of disease, the lab explores the crosstalk between the innate immune system and the environment including our microbiota in intestinal homeostasis, immune tolerance, and chronic inflammatory diseases including cancer and metabolic diseases.
