My research focuses on helping patients with reproductive impairments create or grow their families, improving assisted reproduction techniques (ART) and fertility preservation in women. I co-developed a new rapid-freezing process for human eggs called "McGill Cryoleaf Vitrification", offered to cancer patients before they undergo chemotherapy and to others at risk of premature ovarian failure in order to preserve their fertility. I have helped increase ART's success rates and also make them cheaper and accessible to more patients by combining in-vitro maturation (IVM), which is similar to IVF, but without hormonal stimulation and more successful, with oocyte vitrification (OV). I am interested in research leading to increased success rates in thawing of vitrified reproductive cells, IVF, IVM as well as diagnostic means allowing the birth of healthy children. I mean to help women in fertile age solve the dilemma career development vs create a family by increasing egg banking capabilities and availability.
