Reporting to the RI-MUHC Board of Directors, the ED/CSO directs and manages all research activities of the RI-MUHC, ensuring alignment with the priorities of the MUHC and McGill University. The ED/CSO serves as the key brand ambassador for the RI-MUHC, at home and on the international stage, and provides proactive leadership in developing policies, practices and investments that will have a positive impact on organizational goals. The ED/CSO works seamlessly with the President and Executive Director of the MUHC and, as a key member of the MUHC Executive Team, contributes directly and indirectly to all strategic and operational matters.

One of the new ED/CSO’s principal tasks will be to lead the development of RI-MUHC’s next strategic plan. In collaboration with diverse stakeholders and partners, the ED/CSO will need to articulate a compelling, innovative, clear, ethical and inclusive vision that addresses challenges and opportunities in health care and life sciences through to 2030.

The ED/CSO holds a four-year renewable appointment and holds the title of Full Professor with tenure at McGill University.

The RI-MUHC will benefit from your bringing proven management experience in a life-sciences research setting and your excellent understanding of the full research value chain, from bench to bedside to business to community. Your strong international network of contacts stand to positively influence the RI-MUHC’s reputation and performance. You are an exceptional communicator and relationship builder who excels in complex multi-stakeholder organizations. Perhaps most importantly, your strong entrepreneurial spirit and highly collaborative leadership inspires others to push the boundaries of knowledge and science in open and innovative ways (see Call for Expressions of Interest PDF for more information).
