null Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) - GUEST Speaker Seminar (May 31, 2019)
Why do we need guidance for planning, analysis and reporting of observational studies of health?
For many years the quality of research in the health sciences has been criticized, with problems in design, analysis and reporting of studies among the most important reasons. Reporting guidelines have been developed with the EQUATOR network (http://www.equator-network.org/) acting as an umbrella. The PROGnosis RESearch Strategy (PROGRESS) partnership (http://progress-partnership.org/) aims to critically develop concepts, methods and recommendations for improving prognosis research and the STRATOS (STRengthening Analytical Thinking for Observational Studies; http://www.stratos-initiative.org/) initiative aims to provide accessible and accurate guidance for relevant topics in the design and analysis of observational studies. We will illustrate weaknesses of published research and discuss key issues of the three initiatives.
