The RI-MUHC veterinarian received the 2022 veterinary award for outstanding contributions to the field of laboratory animal science in Canada

Lucie Côté, DVM, Director of the Animal Resources Division at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), was awarded the CALAM/ACMAL Veterinary Award at the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Medicine (CALAM) held on June 27, 2022 in Toronto. Dr. Côté was recognized for her outstanding contributions to laboratory animal science, particularly her achievement in establishing over the past years the excellent and complex RI-MUHC animal care program, and her commitment to diversity and inclusion within her team.

Under Dr. Côté’s guidance, and in a first for Canada, the RI-MUHC became one of ten champion institutions to completely switch to an animal health monitoring program that does not require sentinel animals. (Read more)

Additionally, Dr. Côté was acclaimed as 2023-2024 President of CALAM and will manage the organization’s next annual general meeting, to be held in 2023 in Montreal.
