Madhukar Pai is a Canada Research Chair in Epidemiology & Global Health at McGill. He is the Director of McGill Global Health Programs, and Director of the McGill International TB Centre. Madhu serves on the editorial boards of Lancet Infectious Diseases, PLoS Medicine, BMJ Global Health, International Journal of TB and Lung Diseases, among others.

The dark side of medical publishing: predators, pirates and profiteers

The medical publishing industry is in a turmoil. Traditional publishers are under fire for profiteering and unsustainable business models. While open access publishing emerged as a promising alternative to traditional publishing, the OA movement has now been hijacked by predatory publishers.
