null INESSS honours McGill team for contributions to pandemic hospital projections

Public health researchers David Buckeridge and Mathieu Maheu-Giroux lead valuable support initiative

Source: Health E-News. The INESSS (Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux) Board of Directors adopted a motion in late January to recognize David Buckeridge, MD, PhD, Mathieu Maheu-Giroux, ScD, and their collaborators from the School of Population and Global Health, McGill University, for “their invaluable contribution to the hospital projections that INESSS publishes every week, in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.” This work has provided support to government and ministerial authorities, as well as to managers of the health and social services network.

Dr. Buckeridge, Mathieu Maheu-Giroux, and their colleagues Alexandra Schmidt, Arnaud Godin, Yiqing Xia, Dirk Douwes-Schultz, Alton Russell, Maxime Lavigne, Yannan Shen and Aman Verma, have been working tirelessly with the government’s public health bodies since the beginning of the pandemic to analyse data in order to estimate the impact of infection rates on hospital capacity.

Dr. Buckeridge is a senior scientist in the Metabolic Disorders and Complications Program at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, where he conducts research at the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation.
