Jean-François Trempe, PhD, has been appointed director of the Proteomics Platform at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), effective February 1, 2020.
Currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics at McGill University, he obtained a D.Phil. in biochemistry at the University of Oxford in 2007. Jean-François Trempe brings to this position extraordinary expertise in structural biology and mass spectrometry, techniques used to study Parkinson's disease in his highly successful research program.
As director of the Proteomics Platform, he will oversee operations in the context of the RI-MUHC's mission and strategic research plan, guiding implementation of new technologies and applications that serve the research needs of the community. He will promote and enhance synergies and scientific excellence among the McGill proteomics research community and elsewhere.
We offer warm thanks to Peter McPherson, PhD, who has served as interim director of the Proteomics Platform since 2016. Over this time, the platform manager Lorne Taylor and its staff have established an outstanding customer satisfaction record and delivered tremendous growth in clientele and services.
Please join us in welcoming Jean-François Trempe as the new director. We wish him much success in this new role.
