health Informatics • mobile apps for patients • patient-centered research • personalized questionnaires • patient researcher
My research focuses on developing patient-centric software and applications. My current focus is on developing Opal (opalmedapp.com), a mobile app for cancer patients, along with my co-leads, John Kildea and Tarek Hijal. In my research I wear two hats: one is my computer science hat (I am also a professor of computer xcience at McGill) and the other is my patient hat (I am a cancer patient, being actively treated at the MUHC). This allows me to approach research with two perspectives, and to truly make the research patient-centred.
