A delegation of seven researchers from McGill University recently spent two days at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, Germany, as part of a working visit. Based on the synergy of elements within the two organizations, HZI and McGill are exploring opportunities to pursue collaborations in areas of mutual interest, including personalized medicine.
Dr. Marcel Behr, co-director of the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4), an initiative of McGill University and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), informed attendees about interdisciplinary approaches being pursued at the Canadian university. “The McGill delegates were very excited to hear of the science happening at the HZI and look forward to opportunities to collaborate in the future,” said Dr. Behr.
Six members of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) took part, including Dr. Behr, Maziar Divangahi, PhD, Martin Olivier, PhD, and Dr. Donald Vinh from the Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health Program, as well as Irah King, PhD, and Dr. Dao Nguyen from the Translational Research in Respiratory Diseases Program. Jörg Fritz, PhD, from McGill’s Department of Microbiology, was also a delegate.
