null The 2021 RI-MUHC Annual Report is online!

An invitation from Dr. Rhian Touyz

It is my pleasure to present the 2021 Annual Report of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) with the theme “Overcoming COVID-19.”

In many concrete ways, our joint efforts are bringing us closer to a post-pandemic world. Last year’s RI-MUHC annual report touched on the extraordinary ways in which our researchers rallied in early response to the threat of COVID-19. In 2021 our report showcases the ways in which our research community magnified its contributions and created yet more local, national and international partnerships to forge ahead in this urgent work, under the interim leadership of Dr. Miguel Burnier. I have great appreciation for the talent, teamwork and resilience demonstrated by each member of this research community, including researchers, trainees, staff, and our admirable funding partners.

The central feature of the 2021 RI-MUHC annual report underlines the vital role that our researchers have in society, taking the lead in uncharted territory to advise policy-makers and public health authorities. By pooling expertise in basic, clinical and health outcomes research, immense strides have been made in understanding the SARS-COV-2 virus, building defenses against COVID-19, and protecting the vulnerable. This report presents highlights from each of our eight research programs, attesting to our ongoing commitment to multidisciplinary biomedical research that will improve the health of patients across the lifespan.

Read, enjoy, and be inspired!
