Togas Tulandi, MD, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, is the 2022 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Society for the Advancement of Gynecologic Excellence (CanSAGE).
“As a clinician and investigator in the field of gynecology, especially in reproductive surgery and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, I am privileged to be recognized especially by a Canadian society and colleagues,” says Dr. Tulandi.
The award, which recognizes a gynecologist currently working or recently retired from practice in the surgical and/or medical management of benign gynecological conditions who have made a significant contribution to their field of expertise on a national level through leadership positions, research, advocacy or education, was presented to Dr. Tulandi during the society’s annual meeting in late September.
Dr. Tulandi, who is also the Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the McGill University Health Centre, as well as the Milton Leong Chair in Reproductive Medicine at McGill, is a renowned reproductive/minimally invasive surgeon who has written over 400 articles, 60 book chapters and 14 books. An associate investigator in the Child Health and Human Development Program at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, his research includes improved diagnosis, treatment and complications of endometriosis.
In September 2021 Dr. Tulandi was elected to the fellowship of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS), the first McGill obstetrician and gynecologist to receive this honour. He was also recognized in 2021 as one of the pioneers in reproductive surgery by the Society of Reproductive Surgeons and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, which interviewed him for its podcast series “Surgical Legends – On the Shoulders of Giants: Perspectives in Minimally Invasive Reproductive Surgery.”
Congratulations, Dr. Tulandi!
