YEAR IN REVIEW

INJURY REPAIR RECOVERY (IRR) PROGRAM

RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS

The Clinical Innovation Platform opens at the RI-MUHC

The Clinical Innovation Platform (CLIP) launched in September 2021, thanks to a donation from National Bank of Canada and the strong support of the Montreal General Hospital Foundation and RI-MUHC. The mission of the CLIP is to support innovative solutions to unmet clinical needs and challenges and accelerate the adoption of technologies into the market and healthcare system. Spanning a wing on the ninth floor of the Montreal General Hospital (MGH), the CLIP has close ties to researchers in the Injury Repair Recovery Program.

Dr. Gerald Fried describes remarkable accomplishments since the CLIP launched in the central feature of this report, and the MGH Foundation highlights the heroic support behind this initiative in the section, “Your support.”

Surgical Robotics Centre: A vision for excellence

Housed in the new Clinical Innovation Platform at the RI-MUHC, the Surgical Robotics Centre aims to become one of North America’s centres of excellence in the field of surgical robotics. Its focus is on developing next-generation surgical robots for unmet clinical needs. With guidance from Amir Hooshiar, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in the Injury Repair Recovery Program at the RI-MUHC, the centre formed two funded industrial collaborations with the robotics company Kinova in its first year.
