Dr. Cecilia Costiniuk, a scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), is the recipient of the 2022 Canadian Association for HIV Research – Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CAHR-CANFAR) Excellence in HIV Research Award, Clinical Sciences track. The Excellence in Research Awards program celebrates the contributions of Canadian researchers to HIV/AIDS research in Canada and internationally. Dr. Costiniuk was selected for the award for her track record of excellence and her demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of those living with, or at risk for, HIV.

A member of the Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health Program at the RI-MUHC and associate professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University, Dr. Costiniuk focuses her research on potential factors associated with accelerated chronic lung disease in HIV infection.

The ceremony award will be held virtually between April 27 and 29, 2022, at the 31st Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research (CAHR 2022).
