A distinguished former nursing researcher at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), Celeste Johnston, RN, D.Ed., received the Order of Canada in December 2021 for her foundational research in neonatal pain and for further advancing the field as a beloved mentor. Professor Emerita in the Ingram School of Nursing at McGill’s Faculty of Medicine, her research focuses on measurement and non-pharmacological management of pain in preterm neonates, animal models of neonatal pain, and changing health care professionals’ practices related to pain management for infants.
