Research Focus

My research focuses on how degradation of proteins in cells takes place and how this breakdown of proteins in cells is involved in disease. At this time, I am studying the role of such protein breakdown in Parkinson's disease, in sperm development, in the muscle wasting that occurs in illnesses such as cancer, and in metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. Our work may lead to development of drugs to prevent or treat the above disorders.
