Aug. 30, 2019
Daniel Dufort, PhD, has been appointed Program Leader of the Child Health and Human Development Program (CHHD) at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC). Effective September 1, 2019, he will assume the mandate previously held by Dr. Constantin Polychronakos, whom we thank for his outstanding stewardship of the program since 2015.
Dr. Dufort obtained his PhD from McGill University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute in Toronto. He returned to McGill University to assume his current position of associate professor in the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Medicine.
Dr. Dufort’s research interests focus on elucidating the embryo-uterine communication that is required for successful implantation of the embryo. His laboratory uses molecular, embryological and genetic approaches to identify the signaling pathways and their roles in the implantation process. Currently funded by research operating grants from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research and the Foundation of Stars, Dr. Dufort’s work has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and featured recently in the mainstream press. Dr. Dufort supervises numerous graduate students and has delivered invited lectures around the world.
As CHHD Program Leader, Dr. Dufort will play an active role in pursuing large-scale research opportunities, in making recruitment recommendations, and in the professional development and training of scientific members of the program.
We congratulate him and wish him the greatest success in this new role!
