null Annual 3MT competition delivers (sound) bite-sized research excellence

April 2018

Source: McGill Reporter. Recently, McGill held its seventh annual 3-Minute Thesis/ Ma thèse en 180 secondes competition (3MT) in which graduate students deliver concise presentations of their research in three minutes or less. This year, 14 participants captivated the audience with their research and their polished presentation skills. Surashri Shinde-Jadhav, an M.Sc. student in Dr. Wassim Kassouf’s laboratory at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, was awarded the People’s Choice award.

Surashri connected with the audience and won their support as she expertly described how neutrophils behave as an individual’s own “Spiderman” in the body’s fight against cancer. For Surashri, the ability to connect to a broad audience was a driving motivation for her to participate in the 3MT program, and she urges future participants to think similarly.

“I would definitely encourage people to participate next year as it is a wonderful opportunity to share your research with a wide audience,” she said. ‘It is also a great way to learn about the other amazing research that is being conducted from various disciplines by fellow McGill graduate students.”

Congratulations, Surashri! Learn more
