Research Focus

My research focuses on understanding the mechanisms that regulate two fundamental cellular processes, cell signaling and protein trafficking, and interactions between these processes using genetic, cell biological and biochemical approaches. I use the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans as a model system. This simple worm allows us to study gene function, not only at the cellular level, but also in the context of animal development and physiology. The high conservation of genes between C. elegans and H. sapiens means that findings made in the worm will be relevant to human health.
