Research Focus
My research focuses on identifying modifiable risk factors for cardiometabolic diseases in pediatric populations so as to inform the development of prevention and health promotion strategies. I am interested in better understanding how early life factors (e.g., early nutrition and growth), lifestyle behaviours (e.g., physical activity, diet, sedentary behaviour), and environmental factors (e.g., family- and neighbourhood-level characteristics) determine obesity and cardiometabolic risk factors in children and youth. My work builds on clinical knowledge of person- and family-centred nursing care, as well as training in epidemiology and population health.
