Bioinformatics Bioinformatics

Computational medicine core to enhance research and clinical applications in genomics

The Bioinformatics Platform is one of the Centre for Translational Biology (CTB) Technology Platforms at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC).

The Bioinformatics Platform professionals aim to accelerate genomics research and its applications in clinical practice, while responding to local needs in research, health services and industry arising from the ongoing genomic revolution. Their mission is to develop the bioinformatics and computational biology (B/CB) capacities at the RI-MUHC to ensure that researchers, and ultimately patients, derive maximum benefits from genomic data.

Applications and services

Below are typical applications performed in the Bioinformatics Platform:

  • Providing analytical tools and support in computational genomics
  • Implementing training activities and material in bioinformatics
  • Supporting management and integration of laboratory and clinical data
  • Accelerating the translation of computational genomic tools to healthcare users
