Proteomics and Molecular Analysis
Identification and quantification of proteins and other biomolecules using advanced mass spectrometry methods and discovery of novel drug candidates through integrated bioanalytical services
The Proteomics and Molecular Analysis Platform is one of the Centre for Translational Biology (CTB) Technology Platforms at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC).
Proteomics services
The Proteomics and Molecular Analysis Platform specializes in identifying and quantifying proteins using advanced mass spectrometry techniques to detect changes in health and disease for biomedical and clinical applications. Platform staff have extensive experience in quantitative proteomics, advanced bioinformatics, mapping proteomics data onto biological pathways and protein functional interaction analysis.
Bioanalytical/biophysical services
The Proteomics and Molecular Analysis Platform supports discoveries of new drug molecules and provides top-flight bioanalytical support to the scientific and biotechnology communities. The platform is noted for multidisciplinary expertise in areas such as analytical chemistry, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), and X-ray crystallography.
The platform’s expertise allows handling of a wide range of investigator-initiated research challenges, and this translates into using the platform’s diversified set of instruments for multiple applications: New drug candidate fragment-based screening (NMR), protein target characterization (proteomics), drug and target structures (X-ray), LC-MS support for chemistry, LC-MS/MS for off target effects, LC-MS/MS-MRM assays for drugs from cells, plasma and tissue.
Applications and services
The Proteomics and Molecular Analysis Platform performs:
- Proteomics
- Targeted small molecule analysis
- Biophysics technologies
- Mass spectrometry (MS)
- Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR400 / NMR600)
- Analysis of X-ray crystal structures
- Access to chemistry laboratory
Additional services relate to:
Small molecule analysis
The Proteomics and Molecular Analysis Platform provides services to analyze and quantify peptides, steroids, neurotransmitters, cannabinoids, endocannabinoids, amino acids, prostaglandins and many other “small” molecules.
Platform staff can also help you design new assays to measure almost any biomolecule, often in a multiplexed assay to help keep costs down. The platform offers expertise in planning, designing and executing studies, data analysis and training.

Testimonials
“The RI-MUHC Proteomics Platform provided extraordinary assistance in carrying out our research project and in conducting our clinical study. The team … did an exceptional job of research, experimental validation and methodological support in connection with the development of an LC-MS method for a very difficult/labile molecule. We sincerely thank them for all the work accomplished. We highly recommend their services.”
