Becoming a trainee at the RI-MUHC

A research trainee is a person receiving a stipend or bursary, often from a researcher’s grant, for the purpose of furthering their own research, thesis, academic requirement or other program. Trainees include undergraduates, masters and PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.

As a trainee at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), you will participate in research at one of Canada’s top research institutes and benefit from state-of-the-art facilities, technology platforms, and professional and career development programs.

Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows

Aspiring biomedical scientists and life science professionals can pursue graduate (M.Sc., PhD) or postdoctoral research at the RI-MUHC. Graduate students and fellows at the RI-MUHC benefit from the supervision and mentorship of experienced researchers to guide them through their training.

Undergraduate students

Each year the RI-MUHC welcomes many undergraduate students seeking to participate in original research at the RI-MUHC. Undergraduate or visiting students are encouraged to communicate directly with researchers to inquire about opportunities that may exist in the form of volunteering, completing internships, or carrying out research as part of their undergraduate degree. These opportunities allow undergrads to experience first-hand what it means to study at the RI-MUHC.

Undergraduate student positions may be posted on our Careers page.
