Services in the Experimental Operating Room
A designated hub for clinical research, the Experimental Operating Room is located in the McConnell Centre for Innovative Medicine. As part of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and Research Institute of the MUHC at the Glen site, this facility offers researchers a full range of clinical research services as well as access to state-of-the-art clinical research equipment in an experimental operating room setting.
Strategically placed in the main operating room area of the Royal Victoria Hospital of the MUHC, this fully functional Experimental Operating Room was designed specifically for simulation and clinical research.
Services offered in the Experimental Operating Room include:
- Introduction and orientation
An overview of the state-of-the-art equipment and services available for medical research in the Experimental Operating Room
- Scheduling and setup
Expert coordination of equipment, space, staffing and resources, and set-up of the environment
- Audio-visual
Provision of high-quality video recording and editing capabilities: our first-in-Canada, integrated Stryker-CAE audiovisual recording system offers six (6) cameras for recording and eight (8) monitors for viewing
- Viewing
A large and separate control and viewing area, leaded for imaging
- Technical assistance
Image editing with our Studio3 video- and photo-editing software
- Training
Clinical research Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
- Data collection
