My team’s research centres on congenital heart disease throughout the lifespan, focusing on health services delivery, quality and policy. Our research tools have included large databases, electronic health records and digital health services interventions for complex care. We spearheaded and manage the Quebec Congenital Heart Disease Database that covers over 150,000 patients with congenital heart disease from birth to old age from 1983 to 2017, one of the largest of its kind worldwide. We work, or have worked, with data from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the U.S., and some of the largest congenital heart disease databases in existence internationally. With a wide range of collaborators, we have developed reports of invention for health information technology tools aimed at improving quality of care for congenital heart disease patients. My team’s work informs policymakers in Canada and elsewhere to improve health services delivery models for patients with lifelong conditions.
