Research Focus
My research focuses on the use of simulation to train and evaluate surgical and procedural skills. We have developed simulations to enhance surgical and endoscopic skills and have shown that training in this way enhances skills in the operating room and endoscopy suite. We are also studying the value of simulation training on the safety, quality, effectiveness and efficiency of surgical care. My other research interest is in the measurement of recovery after surgery and developing evidence-based interventions before, during and after surgery to accelerate and enhance recovery.
