My research focuses on health care delivery for children with diabetes and endocrine diseases, with an emphasis on resource-limited settings and underserved populations. My interests include the epidemiology of priority endocrine conditions in maternal-child health in Haiti; clinical phenotypes and social determinants of diabetes care in Haitian youth and youth of non-European origin; point-of-care delivery approaches, such as for newborn screening for congenital hypothyroidism and for diabetic ketoacidosis; and back-translation of local innovation to create successful reverse innovation in Canada and globally, in the areas of community-based care delivery and point-of-care testing in remote settings. I aim to incorporate research and clinical capacity building into each project.
