The McConnell Atrium was lively during the annual Clinical Research Day event, held at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) on May 23. This global event celebrates the lifesaving impact of clinical trials and recognizes the achievements of those involved. Hosted by the Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM), this year’s local event brought together teams from across the MUHC and RI-MUHC to discuss their work and increase community awareness and understanding of clinical trials.
At the RI-MUHC, hundreds of professionals are involved in clinical research, either directly or indirectly. On Clinical Research Day, informative booths showcased the clinical research services available to the larger RI-MUHC community. Many of these were hosted by the CIM, the main facility supporting clinical research at the RI-MUHC.
The CIM is a unique and state-of-the-art facility, dedicated to pediatric and adult clinical trials across various therapeutic areas. Here, researchers can access services from trained professionals, including nurses, research coordinators, project managers, monitors, ethics coordinators, budget services and more. The CIM also provides specialized platforms and spaces to conduct clinical trials, including exam and interview rooms, negative pressure overnight pods, and an infusion unit.
The RI-MUHC is also home to additional services to support clinical research, and these teams were on hand at Clinical Research Day.
