Research Focus

My research interest is directly in line with regenerative medicine. I focus on two main fields of research: gait and motion analysis in youth with musculoskeletal disorders and sports medicine. My research in the field of gait analysis is oriented towards understanding the impact of a disorder on patients’ gait and mobility function and quantifying improvements that occur following a surgery or physical therapy intervention. In sports medicine, my interest lies in identifying risk factors for re-injury following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear and reconstruction and in identifying risk factors for a first ACL tear injury. I also aim to identify factors leading to better recovery following ACL-reconstruction surgery.

All of my research and clinical work focusses on providing better care to patients and improving their quality of life. I have published 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles that have been cited, in total, over 700 times.
