Research Focus
My research program aims to inform the development of protective HIV vaccines and understand how to achieve a functional HIV cure. One of my CIHR-funded research projects focuses on the mechanisms that underlie resistance to HIV infection and viral control without treatment in a rare subset of HIV-infected elite controllers. A second studies the mechanisms underlying protection from HIV infection in persons who remain HIV-seronegative despite multiple exposures to HIV. As adjunct director of the FRQ-S─funded AIDS and Infectious Diseases Network since 2018, I oversee the Network’s HLA typing core and am the co-principal investigator of the Canadian Cohort of HIV Infected Slow Progressors.
