The Clinical Innovation Platform (CLIP) at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre is a state-of-the-art facility within the Montreal General Hospital of the MUHC (MGH), designed to create a hospital-based ecosystem that accelerates the adoption of innovative health technologies into the market.
This cutting-edge facility provides an environment for HealthTech companies to create meaningful connections with key players in the field and offers a wide range of services. In addition to newly renovated research and meeting space, the CLIP provides such services as clinical consultation, industry expert mentorship, marketing and product trials, rapid prototyping and laboratories for product development.
CLIP space
Our modern space located in the heart of the Montreal General Hospital (MGH) provides the ideal environment for health tech companies to fuel their ideas. We offer closed and open office space, conference rooms for up to 50 people, and a lounge area, as well as laboratories for prototyping, dry, chemical, tissue culture and microscopy work.

Surgical Robotics Centre
Housed in the new Clinical Innovation Platform at the RI-MUHC, the Surgical Robotics Centre aims to become one of North America’s centres of excellence in the field of surgical robotics. Its research focus is the design, development, and validation of soft robots for tissue reconstructive robotic surgery, AI-powered autonomous surgical robots, and mixed reality-based wearable technology for preoperative planning and intraoperative surgical guidance. The Surgical Robotics Centre has industrial collaborations, funding for numerous graduate students, and active clinical collaborations with various divisions at the MUHC.
McConnell Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM)
The McConnell Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM) offers a full range of clinical research services in a state-of-the-art environment to develop and evaluate new treatments for some of the world’s most critical diseases. The CIM staff members offer expertise in clinical trials management, quality control monitoring, project management of multicentre trials, data management and statistics, and assistance with on-site specialized equipment dedicated solely to research. The CIM is equipped with a fully functional Experimental Operating Room, which can accommodate a variety of simulation activities as well as human subjects in the context of clinical trials. Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning
The Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning uses the latest medical simulation technologies to enhance the skills of health care professionals. Fully integrated into McGill's medical and health sciences programs, it provides hands-on training in difficult and potentially dangerous procedures without risk to patients. The Steinberg Centre works with MedTech companies and clinical innovators to help transform their ideas into concrete and viable solutions for the health care market, offering a unique simulated hospital setting in which to understand clinical needs, test innovative ideas and technology, and establish the necessary proof of concept for nascent medical technology.
