Research Focus
My research focuses on paediatric HIV. Our team provides yearly robust surveillance data about this to Quebec and Canada’s public health agencies. I am the site Principle Investigator for the CIME Québec Pediatric HIV surveillance project; we report cases of paediatric HIV, and newborns of HIV-infected mothers. This data is useful at the level of the Quebec Health Ministry, and ultimately Health Canada because it informs Canadian physicians on how to manage paediatric HIV and prevent perinatal HIV infections. Our members are part of the Canadian Pediatric AIDS Research Group that establishes guidelines for prevention and treatment of HIV in children. Historically, we have also been involved in new and ultimately successful paediatric HIV medication trials. Additionally, our team has conducted efficacy vaccine trials against influenza and human papilloma viruses in HIV infected patients.
