Research Focus

My research focuses on understanding how clinicians make decisions, and how to improve health care delivery. As a health economist, I study the real-world impacts of healthcare delivery using big data and quasi-experimental methods - tools that help us learn about cause and effect even when we can’t run a traditional experiment - to evaluate policies like financial incentives for doctors or new tools like AI decision support. For example, I’ve studied what happens when health systems introduce quality metrics or what happens when patients are reminded about their preventative care appointments. My work also explores how access to care and quality of treatment vary by factors like gender, income, and geography.
