The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), in collaboration with the three major pediatric research centres in Quebec, recently hosted the Congrès Provincial de la Recherche Mère-Enfant. Held in October 2023, the theme of this meeting was “In the era of biobanks: from tissue pathology to clinical care.”

The objectives of this multicentre research congress were:

  • To disseminate the latest advances in maternal and child health research in Quebec;
  • To enable exchanges between researchers and students from different research centres;
  • To facilitate participants’ exposure to new research themes and disciplines;

Keynote speaker Amy Metcalfe, PhD, an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Calgary, delivered a talk entitled “Today, Tomorrow, and Next Year: The Power of Longitudinal Cohorts to Address Current and Future Research Questions.”

The congress drew over 160 participants comprised of clinical and fundamental researchers, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and residents. Fifteen prizes were awarded for best oral and poster presentations. Congratulations to the award winners, and to all organizers and participants in this rewarding meeting!
