Honouring research that takes women’s heart health to heart!

The Canadian Society of Internal Medicine (CSIM) has honoured Dr. Natalie Dayan with the New Investigator Award 2020 in recognition of excellence in research in general internal medicine. A clinician-scientist from the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and Research Institute of the MUHC (RI-MUHC), Dr. Dayan presented the New Investigator Award Lecture on October 14 with the topic, “Women’s Heart Health: Marrying Research with Clinical Work without Missing a Beat.”

“It was an honour to receive this award and a privilege to share my research as well as my experiences as a young investigator at the virtual CSIM meeting this year,” says Dr. Dayan.

Dr. Natalie Dayan is a scientist in the Cardiovascular Health Across the Lifespan Program and conducts research at the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation at the RI-MUHC. She is also an assistant professor of medicine at McGill University and general internal medicine specialist at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), where she directs the obstetric medicine clinical service.

Dr. Dayan holds an Early Career Professorship for Women’s Heart and Brain Health from McGill University and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada – Quebec Chapter and is supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé.

With operating funds from the Canadian Institute of Health Research, she is studying the impact of infertility treatment on short- and long-term health outcomes in women. In other contexts, she is investigating long-term cardiovascular risk after hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and the potential cardioprotective effect of breastfeeding.
