Research Focus
My research focuses on the use of simulation, including manikins, part-task trainers, serious games, and mixed reality to train and evaluate surgical and procedural skills. We have developed simulations to provide training and assess foundational surgical and endoscopic skills and have shown that training with simulation enhances skills in the operating room and endoscopy suite. We are also studying the value of simulation training on the safety, quality, effectiveness and efficiency of surgical care.
