Laurie Hendren, a professor of computer science at McGill University, was one of the founders of the Opal project at the McGill University Health Centre. She received numerous awards for her academic achievements and was an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. In 2019 she was awarded the Dahl-Nygaard Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in computer science. She was a passionate researcher and teacher with a joyous vibrant spirit.
