The Startup Demo Day is a showcase presented by the Montreal General Hospital Foundation (MGHF), hosted in partnership with the Clinical Innovation Platform (CLIP). The 2025 edition brought together researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs and investors for dynamic presentations of new technologies that could transform patient care.
The demo day event marked the final stage of the MGHF's Impact Investment Program selection process, where early-stage companies developing medical technologies can pitch for funding to help them scale. This year, three startups were selected for possible impact investment, each representing a bold new approach to improving health outcomes.

Launched by the Montreal General Hospital Foundation, the Impact Investment Program provides convertible loans to early-stage companies developing health technologies through the CLIP incubator. These investments generate returns that can be reinvested in future health-tech ventures.
"Our Impact Investment Program helps bridge the critical gap between a great idea and its real-world application in the healthcare system," says Jonathan Elkas, Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships at the MGHF. "By supporting companies at this pivotal stage, we help accelerate innovations that can meaningfully improve patient lives."
The program is made possible through the support of National Bank, the John Dobson Foundation, the Birks Family Foundation, and other partners.
From vision to venture: the 2025 winners
Out of more than 40 applicants, six startups were selected to present at this year's demo day event After careful deliberation by the MGHF's Funding Oversight Committee, three were chosen for investment, pending final review.
- OneCare— Bringing precision medicine to mental health, OneCare develops blood-based diagnostics that analyze subtle biochemical signatures and use deep-learning to guide patient care.
- NeedleAID — Tackling one of healthcare's most persistent workplace hazards, NeedleAID provides data-driven tools for safe disposal of sharps waste, reducing injuries, lowering costs and improving sustainability.
- Modulate— Combining AI and 3D printing, Modulate creates customized, biomechanically optimized back braces for scoliosis patients, improving comfort and treatment outcomes
These new ventures join a growing community of health-tech innovators supported through the MGHF's Impact Investment Program. Previous recipients, including FemTherapeutics, Juno Technologies and Nura Medical, have demonstrated how this model can accelerate the journey from lab to clinic, from personalized women's health devices to smart medication platforms for hospitals.
Supporting the next generation of healthcare solution
"Together, the MGH Foundation and CLIP are creating a pipeline where world-class research and entrepreneurship meet," says Jake Barralet, PhD, Scientific Director of the CLIP. "The results speak for themselves — these startups are developing solutions that will make healthcare smarter, safer and more accessible."
This collaboration shows how early investment and clinical partnership can accelerate innovation into better patient care. Through the Impact Investment Program and Startup Demo Day, the MGHF and the CLIP support the development of the next generation of healthcare solutions.
