Dr. Nadine Kronfli, a junior scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), is the recipient of the 2021 New Investigator Award from the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease (AMMI) Canada. This award recognizes a promising new investigator who has made substantial contributions to research in the fields of infectious disease or medical microbiology, within five years of their first academic appointment. Dr. Kronfli was selected for her outstanding contribution to the elimination of infectious diseases, including hepatitis C and SARS-CoV-2, in Canadian correctional settings.

“This is a great honour,” says Dr. Kronfli. “Conducting research in prisons offers unique challenges, but serves to advance the health of a highly vulnerable population as well as surrounding communities.”

At the RI-MUHC, Dr. Kronfli is a member of the Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health Program and conducts research at the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation. She is also an assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University.

The award was announced at the AMMI Canada – Canadian Association for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Conference awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. For more information, visit the AMMI Canada website.
