null First annual Trottier-Webster Research Innovation Competition announced by the MUHC Foundation

The McGill University Health Centre Foundation, along with the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), is pleased to announce the establishment of the annual Trottier-Webster Research Innovation Competition.

The aim of the Trottier-Webster Research Innovation Competition is to accelerate the process of developing promising technology, diagnostics, therapeutics and screening tools to ultimately change how we provide better health care. This competition is designed to support early-stage original and innovative proposals that have the greatest potential to significantly impact diagnosis, treatment and patient care at the MUHC, across Canada and around the world.

The Call for Proposals is slated for March 2019. One award of $100K will be announced in October 2019 with a funding start date of November 1, 2019. Competition for the award will be held annually in perpetuity. The competition is open to eligible RI-MUHC researchers in all areas of health research and will be administered via the RI-MUHC. Eligibility criteria, guidelines, and application details will be announced in March 2019.

The process from conception to practical applications in the real world doesn’t happen overnight. Thanks to the generous investment from the Trottier Family Foundation and the R. Howard Webster Foundation, who support innovative projects like these, our researchers will have an edge permitting them to provide proof of concept of an idea at its earliest stages. This competition will fuel the pipeline that will subsequently attract experts and industry partners toward further robust proposals and larger funding opportunities.
