Source: Health E-News. Tania Janaudis-Ferreira, PhD, a member of the Translational Research in Respiratory Diseases Program at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI‑MUHC), is the 2021 recipient of the CRHP Distinction Award in recognition of her significant contributions to knowledge translation, teaching and mentorship. Canadian Respiratory Health Professionals (CRHP) is the multi-disciplinary healthcare professional assembly of the Canadian Thoracic Society.
“I was truly honoured to receive the 2021 Canadian Respiratory Health Professionals’ Distinction award,” says Tania Janaudis-Ferreira, who is also an assistant professor at McGill University’s School of Physical and Occupational Therapy. “This was certainly one of the most significant events of my professional career. I joined the Canadian Thoracic Society as a trainee in 2009, two years after I arrived in Canada. This year, I was delighted to hear that I had been nominated by my respiratory colleagues and trainees to receive this award. I look forward to many more years of contribution to the respiratory field and collaborations with the Canadian Thoracic Society and Canadian Respiratory Health Professionals Assembly!”
The CRHP Distinction Award was created in 2014 to recognize a respiratory healthcare professional who is actively engaged in the mentorship of other healthcare professionals and who serves as role model for professionalism and volunteerism. Specifically, the award recognizes healthcare professionals who have enhanced respiratory care through unique or long-term contributions.
A physiotherapist who completed her training in Brazil, Sweden and Canada, Tania Janaudis-Ferreira’s research program is focused on improving care and rehabilitation outcomes of individuals with chronic lung disease and solid organ transplant candidates and recipients.
